Video of Plane in Final Moments Before Crash

A home video camera recorded the Hawker Hunter jet fighter in its last moments of flight.

(HILLSBORO) - Guilford's Hawker Hunter jet in flight Home video of a Hawker jet fighter's last moments of flight were recorded by an Oregon airshow visitor as the pilot, Bob Guilford of Los Angeles, California, made his last decisions before plunging into a Hillsboro, Oregon neighborhood Sunday.

Guilford, a California attorney, was a veteran pilot who owned and was qualified to fly many different high performance military aircraft over his 44-years as a private pilot. The plane he was flying was a Hawker Hunter.

Hawker manufactured the cold war fighter called the "Hunter" for several years beginning in the mid-1950's. Like most successful military jet aircraft, the Hunter was redefined with improvements over time and came in single and two-seat versions.

Jet Pilot Who Died in Hillsboro was One of The Best

Robert Guilford was an extremely experienced pilot with 4,000 hours logged over 44-years of flying.

(HILLSBORO) - various photos of Bob Guilford and his plane The pilot who died during at an airshow in Hillsboro, Oregon is a distinguished attorney from Los Angeles, California. Robert E. Guilford was also a distinguished pilot, becoming proficient in his lifetime with a number of different fighter aircraft that he flew at airshows.

Mr. Guilford was born in Cleveland, Ohio, April 14, 1933. After completing his education at the University of Virginia where he earned a B.A., with Honors in Philosophy, and Harvard Law School where he graduated with a J.D. in 1958, he began to practice law in California, joining the state bar in 1959. It didn't take long for the young attorney to also gain his commercial pilot's license with an instrument rating.

His many affiliations included membership in the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Classic Jet Aircraft Association where he served was a past Chairman.

British Vintage Jet Crashes Into Hillsboro Neighborhood

Thousands attending the Hillsboro Airshow saw something they weren't expecting as a vintage jet tragically plunged into a neighborhood.

(HILLSBORO) - A 1959 British Hawker Hunter participating in the 2006 Oregon International Air Show crashed into a residential neighborhood near the Hillsboro Airport, setting at least two homes on fire just after 4:30 PM Sunday.

The pilot is reportedly a lawyer from California.

Connie King, a spokeswoman for the Hillboro Fire Department, said three homes were hit, one took a direct hit in the middle, and that so far there are no reports of any injuries on the ground.

Another Oregon Soldier Killed in Iraq

(MILWAUKIE AP) - flag at half mast A 22-year-old soldier from Milwaukie is dead, after a mortar explosion in Iraq.

Army Specialist Robert Jones was killed Friday in an ambush while on foot patrol in Baghdad, according to family friends.

A 2002 graduate of Rex Putnam High School, Jones was on his second tour of duty in Iraq.

According to his father, Jones sent him a Father's Day card that arrived Thursday, sending his love, and wishing his father a happy holiday.

Sung Koo Kim Sentenced to 65 Months For Panty Theft

(HILLSBORO AP) - Sung Koo Kim A convicted panty thief has been sentenced to more than five years in jail in Washington County.

Sung Koo Kim is already serving more than four years in Yamhill County - and still faces charges in Multnomah and Benton counties.

According to testimony at his trial in Washington County, Kim began stealing women's underwear when he was 17 and had collected about 34-hundred pairs by the time he was arrested in May 2004.

Man Walks Away From Plane Crash

(Hillsboro) - The pilot and sole occupant of a plane survived a crash Thursday near Hillsboro. Around 9:09 AM, Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Firefighters from Washington County Fire District #2, responded to the scene of the crash in unincorporated Washington County.

Deputies say they received a report from the Portland Airport tower that a "mayday" was broadcast, and an Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT) had been activated in the area of the Twin Oaks Airport.
