(LAS CRUCES, NM) - Armed man in Mexico More Mexicans are acquiring arms to defend their families and property. According to a university researcher, the number of firearms legally possessed in Mexico increased 53 percent from 2009 to 2012, jumping from 2,033, 749 to 3,118, 592 guns.

Ernesto Villanueva, researcher for the National Autonomous University of Mexico’s Institute of Legal Research, based his findings on data from the Mexican Defense Ministry (Sedena), which is in charge of registering firearms.

Police Identify Man who Shot Officer

Portland Police Detectives have confirmed that the suspect was also the person involved in the associated reports of a suspicious van following kids.

(PORTLAND) - police shooting update The suspect who shot Portland Police Officer John Romero on March 12, 2014, has been identified as 49-year-old Kelly Vern Swoboda.

Portland Police say Swoboda, who died in a shootout with police Wednesday, had a warrant for his arrest for robbery, and was also a suspect in bank robberies and other crimes in multiple jurisdictions.

Police Officer Shot in SW Portland

A firearm was recovered near the subject and the investigation is ongoing.

(PORTLAND) - Police car Earlier today we reported that officers from Central Precinct and the Youth Services Division had taken reports of a suspicious male driving a van (see the earlier flash alert)in the area of Wilson High School. In response to these reports officers were providing extra patrol in the area.

At about 4:00 p.m., an officer assigned to this detail was shot and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The arrests and seizures are the result of a investigation conducted by the California Attorney General’s Office that began in early 2014.

(LOS ANGELES) - Weapons seized in California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris today announced the seizure of over 400 firearms and the arrest of two individuals who allegedly trafficked illegal firearms.

“California has laws that regulate the sales and purchase of firearms. These individuals broke the law by illegaly selling firearms for personal profit,” Attorney General Harris said.

Man Arrested After Attempt to Elude in SE Salem

Troopers say they found a small amount of Hydrocodone and Oxycodone pills were also found in his clothing.

(SALEM) - Anthony R. Segura, age 35, from Salem A 35-year old Salem man was arrested early Thursday morning on multiple charges after reportedly attempting to elude state police troopers in SE Salem.

35-year old Anthony R. Segura was arrested, police say they found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his car.
