Oregon Holiday Travelers Will Pay More For Gas Than All Else in Continental U.S.

At $2.67, Oregon's average gasoline price remains 2nd highest in the nation. Hawaii has the highest average price at $2.83.

(SALEM) - gas sign While Oregon's average price gained almost three cents during the week, the national average increased by slightly more than a penny.

In the past week, gas prices across the nation generally continued their upward swing, boosting the national average price for a gallon of regular to $2.31, compared to Oregon's statewide average of $2.67.

The price of crude oil, currently below $63 per barrel, is about where it was one week ago. Late last week, OPEC announced it would reduce oil production by another 500,000 barrels per day, beginning the first of February, 2007.

Oregon Gas Prices Jump Four Cents

The Beaver state remains the second highest in the US.

(SALEM) - Gas prices in Oregon are continuing their upward trend.

According to AAA the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Oregon jumped 4-cents in the past week to $2.64.

In Portland-Vancouver, the price rose 5-cents to $2.62.

In Salem, the price is up 4-cents to $2.62.

Oregon still has the nations second highest gas prices, trailing only Hawaii at $2.83.

Oregon Now Has Nation`s Second Highest Gas Prices

The nationwide average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas Monday was at $2.28, up 8 cents from a month ago.

(SALEM) - photo: Classic car by Kevin Hays The price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Oregon has climbed to $2.60, up 18 cents from one month ago.

That is the second highest price in the nation.

Only Hawaii's average price is higher at $2.83 a gallon.

In Salem, the average price as of Monday is $2.58 a gallon, up 21 cents from one month ago.

The highest average price in the state is in the Medford-Ashland metro area, where the average price Monday was $2.66 a gallon, up 28 cents from a month ago.

In Portland-Vancouver the average price is at $2.57, and in Eugene-Springfield the average price is $2.62 a gallon.

"The abrupt price increases are blamed on a combination of factors," said AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Elliott Eki.

Price of Gas Won`t Stop Oregon From Hitting the Road

Gas prices average $2.49 across Oregon—about three cents higher than this time last year.

(SALEM) - pumping gas Higher travel related costs will not keep families home this Thanksgiving. AAA estimates that 38.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home this holiday, a 2.7 percent increase from last year’s 37.3 million travelers.

“Airports and highways will be busier than ever,” said AAA Oregon Senior Vice President Beth Van Horn. “Prices for hotel rooms, rental cars and airfare have increased, but that will not keep people from traveling.”

National Average Gasoline Price Fluctuating; Oregon Average Price Still on Downward Swing

The national average price decline goes up and down, closing the past week one-cent higher than previous week at $2.21. Oregon average price is still moving downward...$2.439. Fluctuation in the national average suggests some regions already have hit their lowest prices and prices are being adjusted upward to maintain profit margins.

(SALEM) - Gas station at night The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline moved somewhat erratically in recent days and currently is $2.21, a penny higher than one week ago. Oregon's average, however, fell by slightly more than 4-cents per gallon to $2.439.

In a month's time, the gap between the Oregon and national average price has been narrowed from 39-cents to 22-cents per gallon.

Oregon Average Gas Price Still Among Nation`s Highest, But Breaks Through the $2.50/Gallon Barrier

Oregon’s statewide average is below $2.50, and even Medford-Ashland average price is below that threshold. Expect prices to continue to fall as Thanksgiving approaches.

(SALEM) - Gas pump in car Oregon's statewide average price for a gallon of regular gasoline finally fell below the $2.50 mark, and now stands at $2.48, down more than 6-cents during the past week. The decline has slowed somewhat for the national average price which is currently $2.20.

The week's most notable price reduction in Oregon's four measured metropolitan areas came in Medford-Ashland where the average price fell by almost ten-cents per gallon.

National Average Gasoline Price Decline Slows; Oregon Average Price Still Among Nation`s Highest

National fuel prices are declining slowing somewhat. Oregon's still moving at a good pace, but the statewide average is still 33-cents higher than the national average.

Gas prices are still falling. The national avg. down to $2.26, Oregon’s statewide average is 5th highest in nation, at $2.61.

Salem’s average for a gallon of regular is $2.55, trailing the Eugene/Springfield average price of $2.52. Portland drivers are paying $2.57 while gas prices in the Ashland/Medford area are averaging $2.62 a galloon.

Fuel Prices Continue Downward Trend; Oregon Average Price Now Nation`s 5th Highest

Fuel prices continue to fall. Oregon average price of $2.68 is down almost 7-cents since a week ago and now comparable to mid-April average price. Yet, it's 5th highest in the nation--even higher than California.

(SALEM) - Gas pump The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline now stands at $2.31, the lowest since the second week of January. Oregon's current average price—$2.68—is comparable to that of mid-April. In the past week, the national average price fell by more than a nickel per gallon while Oregon's went down by almost 7-cents.

Salem’s average price for a gallon of regular is $2.62, it beats Portland’s average by two cents.

Salem, Statewide Gas Prices Continue to Fall

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.48.7, down from 2.93.6 one month ago.

(SALEM) - Salem area hot rods The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the Salem-area continues to fall from their record highs this summer.

According to AAA, the average price is now at $2.80.6 down from $2.99.8 one month ago.

In Eugene-Springfield, the average price is $2.84.0, in Portland-Vancouver the average price is $2.80.7, and in Medford-Ashland, the average price is $2.82.1.

"The two primary factors behind the lower pump prices are the declining price of crude oil, currently trading in the $65 per barrel range, about $10 less than July prices, and the end of the summer driving season," said AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Elliott Eki.
