The fertilizer plant is about 20 miles north of Waco and just off Interstate 35.

(WACO) - Explosion at West Texas fertilizer plant Explosions rocked a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, Wednesday evening as firefighters were battling a fire, causing multiple injuries, authorities said.

Dani Moore, dispatcher with the Texas Department of Pubic Safety, said she did not know how many were injured or the extent of their injuries.

They probably were struggling with the realization that they were never going to see anyone emerge from that mineshaft, where a methane fire broke out, one so intense that it would burn for several days.

This is the first year the OSFM has recorded that no child died as a result of fire.

Firefighter Ambush in New York: `A Senseless act of Violence`

The gunman reportedly shot himself dead.

(ROCHESTER, NY) -  Firefighters were called to a house fire in Webster, N.Y. on Dec. 24, 2012, only to find a gunman. (ABC News) Officials near Rochester, NY are trying to determine why a suspect lured a police officer and firefighters to an ambush where the men were shot to death.

Ronald W. Nesbitt. the Webster, New York Supervisor, reports that, "A senseless violent act claimed the lives of two distinguished members of our community and sent two others to the hospital". He says early Christmas Eve morning, four members of the West Webster Fire Department responded to a house fire on Lake Road.
