Southern Oregon Wildfire Continues to Grow

The fire is only 5 percent contained at this time.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. ) - Bryant Fire The Bryant Fire reported Thursday afternoon burning 20 miles east of Klamath Falls on the NE end of Bryant Mountain has grown to 1,200 acres.

The fire is burning in an active logging operation in felled and bucked timber on steep, rugged terrain.

Gusty winds are predicted for this afternoon and evening, which could challenge firefighters.

Railroad Box Car Catches Fire in Albany Rail Yard

The cause of this fire has been determined to be accidental

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - The Albany Fire Department responded to the Willamette Pacific Freight Yard, 725 Waverly DR NE, in Millersburg at approximately 11:07 a.m. on Monday, to a report of a fire in a parked railroad box car.

When firefighters arrived at the scene in about eleven minutes they found a single railroad box car fully involved in fire and saw that an additional railroad car was attached on both ends.

Mid-Valley Backyard Burn Ban Takes Effect on Monday

The restrictions will extend through October 15 or later, depending on fire danger.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - A ban on all open and backyard burning will go into effect on Monday in Marion, Linn, and Benton counties.

The Oregon Department of Forestry and the fire defense boards of the three counties announced the ban, which aims to reduce the incidence of open debris burns escaping control.

Man In Critical Condition After Bicycle Accident on Oregon Highway 22E

The man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

(STAYTON, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police A 55-year old man is in critical condition Saturday night after falling from his bicycle while riding on the shoulder of Highway 22E just east of Stayton.

The man reportedly ran over a piece of 2x4 wood lying on the pavement, lost control and fell off the bicycle landing on his face.

Fire Destroys Jefferson Shop

The cause of the fire was determined to be from the burning weeds that were not completely extinguished and spread under the edge of the building.

(JEFFERSON, Ore. ) - The Jefferson Fire District was dispatched to a structure fire at 12988 Meadowood Court S.E. Jefferson, Oregon Tuesday afternoon.

Upon arrival Incident Commander, Scott Shepherd stated that heavy black smoke was coming out of the roof and sides of the shop and flames were starting to show. There was another shop within a few feet of the structure that was being threatened by the fire.
