The Night of Fire Car Show Returns (VIDEO)

A Salem Summertime tradition returns tonight, as what started out as a one-time fundraiser to help someone in need has become an annual gathering not to be missed.

(SALEM) - The formula is simple, mix street roads with the thunder of drag racing cars, add in venders and kids activities, and what you get is an evening of good, clean fun, and the making of great memories.

This year The Night of Fire will take place on the Morningstar Church grounds. `Morningstar Church is our best venue yet,` comments Mike Adams, who has helped coordinate the event since the beginning five years ago. `It's bigger than the shopping centers we have used in the past and the grassy park like setting makes this a more enjoyable environment. Plus there is plenty of parking for everyone. We`re working hard to bring in the top local drag racing cars, street rods, venders, prizes, and activities that have made our shows so unique.`

It`s not just a car show though, every year a benefactor for the money raised is selected. This year it`s a baby boy named Joshua.

Oregon State Fairgrounds Turning Into `Silver City` (AUDIO)

The silver bullet style trailers will be in Salem now through July 6th. Organizers say the weeklong event should pump about $3 million dollars into the Salem-area economy.

(SALEM) - The Oregon State Fairgrounds is turning silver, as an estimated 1,200 Airstream trailers and RV`s from across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada converge on the fairgrounds for the 49th Annual Wally Byam Caravan Club International Rally.

The `Silver City` features a post office, water and disposal services and activities for attendees. Although the rally is private, a public open house event will take place on June 30th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Margaret and Carl Morris traveled to Salem from New Castle Delaware. The couple says they plan to spend this weekend attending the Salem Farmers Market and the World Beat Festival.

Over 60% of all Airstreams ever built — including some built from the original five-dollar plans — are still rolling down the highways. Airstreams have survived millions of miles across some of the roughest roads in the world and Airstreamers have enjoyed the freedom to go where others only dream of traveling. By many accounts, Airstreams are truly an American legend.
