(WASHINGTON D.C.) - THE PRESIDENT: Good morning, everybody. Several years ago, the State Department began a review process for the proposed construction of a pipeline that would carry Canadian crude oil through our heartland to ports in the Gulf of Mexico and out into the world market.

This morning, Secretary Kerry informed me that, after extensive public outreach and consultation with other Cabinet agencies, the State Department has decided that the Keystone XL Pipeline would not serve the national interest of the United States. I agree with that decision.

Willamina 230-Acre Fire is 50% Contained

Four cabins along East Creek Road are under a Level 1 evacuation. Willamina Creek Road and East Creek Road are closed north of the junction with Coast Creek Road.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Excellent progress on containing the Willamina Creek Fire was made today. The fire has not grown since Friday night.

Increases in acreage shown in these updates over the last few days reflect the GPS data collection work that has been completed which has resulted in more accurate mapping. The final acreage is not expected to increase from today's total.

Man Rescued After 26 Foot Fall at Three Pools Park

Mason was taken to the Salem Hospital with serious injuries.

(MARION COUNTY, Ore.) - Rescuers worked for nearly two hours to recover 26-year old Mason Young, of Salem after he attempted a back flip off of the rocks, fell some 26 feet and missed the water at Three Pools Recreation Area.

Mason was originally assisted by bystanders and then later by Fire and Law Enforcement personnel from seven different jurisdictions.

(SALEM, Ore.) - As the house gets ready to take a look at Senate Bill 324 A, more commonly referred to as the low carbon fuel standard bill, agricultural organizations express their concerns over SB 324 A to Oregonians.

Jenny Dresler, government affairs associate for the Oregon Farm Bureau, said that while they can't be certain of what environmental benefits SB 324 A would bring, they likely won't be substantial.
