Members of Congress Question Navy Commitment to Transparency at Camp Lejeune

Senators and Representatives take the Marine Corps to task over dangerous water.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Camp Lejeune is located in North Carolina Five members of Congress today sent a bipartisan letter to the Department of the Navy questioning its commitment to transparency regarding Camp Lejeune’s contaminated drinking water.

North Carolina delegation members U.S. Senators Richard Burr, Kay R. Hagan and Representative Brad Miller, along with Senator Bill Nelson and Representative John Dingell ask the Department of the Navy to immediately provide the public with accurate information.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Tim King about two months before being sentenced to 30 days at the Correctional Custody Unit at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base in California I became a bit of an expert on the military legal system during my time as a U.S. Marine.

I don't know if it was half me and half the Marine Corps, or just how it all came to be the mess that it was; but I do feel that I became a qualified expert of sorts at being a Marine troublemaker.

Former MCAS El Toro was once a proud Marine aviation base; today it is a demolished wreck. The soil and groundwater was terribly polluted over the years and many have paid the ultimate price over it.

Camp Lejeune Lawsuit Goes Forward

The complaint was filed in Federal court in the Eastern District of North Carolina.

(JACKSONVILLE, N.C.) - Salem-News.com A federal judge has denied a motion by the government to reconsider requests to dismiss the $10,000 injury lawsuit of Marine spouse Laura Jones, who contracted non-Hodgkins lymphoma after living aboard Lejeune.

A judge previously rejected two motions to dismiss the case; one on the grounds that there were no standards for Lejeune’s TCE and PCE contaminants, the other because Jones’ cancer, diagnosed in 2003, fell outside the state’s 10-year statute of repose for injury claims.

Former Colonel Sues Marine Corps Over Camp Lejeune Water Contamination

A veteran who served on the base in the late 50's is Lejeune's 65th male breast cancer victim.

(WASHINGTON D.C. McClatchy) - Marine Corps logo A man who served at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune for nearly two years in the 1950s has sued the federal government for $16 million, saying poisonous water at the base caused his cancer.

Joel P. Shriberg of Pinehurst, N.C., was diagnosed in 2004 with male breast cancer and had a radical mastectomy on his left breast.
