Documentary Explores Students Bringing Water to Kenyan Community

Prgram is a collaboration between OSU's College of Engineering and University Relations and Marketing.

(CORVALLIS) - Kel Wer documentary on Kenya water In July of 2012, a group of Oregon State University students traveled to the small village of Lela, Kenya, to help the community gain access to safe water.

The story of their journey will be told in Kel Wer ("to bring song" in the native Dholuo language), a documentary that will debut at Kearney Hall on Tuesday, April 30.

(PORTLAND, OR) - Ugandan women who have completed their Sseko work program earning funds to support their university education. Some of the brightest and most committed young women in Uganda are getting a chance to continue their education thanks to Sseko Designs and the sale of their unique handmade sandals and fashion here in the U.S.

Every year, women in Uganda struggle to fund their university education after completing secondary school.

John B. Gurdon and Shinya Yamanaka Create Stem Cells Identical to Embryonic Stem Cells Without Destroying Human Embryo

New test may allow the therapeutic use of induced pluripotent stem cells or iPS.

(MADRID) - Shinya Yamanak of Japan and Sir John B. Gurdon of the UK. John B. Gurdon of the UK and Shinya Yamanaka of Japan, have created cells whose characteristics are identical to those of embryonic cells, but without destroying human embryos.

The Swedish Academy said that both Gurdon and Yamanaka "have revolutionized our understanding of how cells and bodies develop", and allowed to refine unusual "methods of diagnosis and therapy".

(SALEM) - Belcrest Memorial Park Belcrest Memorial Park is proud to announce Salem-area high school ROTC cadets will be planting trees and plants beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 6 at the cemetery, 1295 Browning Avenue South in Salem.

The new trees and plants will replace those that have died or have sustained damage.

Oregon Documentary `Finding Normal` to be Shown for Human Services Program`s 40th Anniversary

Oregonian film critic Shawn Levy praised “Finding Normal” in his review of the film, grading it an A-minus and calling it “incredibly engrossing.”

(SALEM) - Finding Normal A special screening of a documentary highlighting the battles in recovering from drug addiction will highlight a 40th anniversary celebration of Chemeketa Community College’s Human Services program.

“Finding Normal” will be shown at 6 p.m. Friday, April 5th, in the auditorium (Building 6) at the college’s main campus in Salem.
