Great opportunities to get some real experience and get paid

(EUGENE, Ore.) - nwyouthcorps.org Teenagers from all over the U.S. have joined Northwest Youth Corps this summer, working outdoors and are making a difference! In its 30-year history, NYC has placed over 17,000 teenagers and young adults in programs providing them with both excellent educational and job training experience.

No experience is necessary, only a willingness to learn, work hard as a team, and travel to some of the most rugged and scenic areas Portland and of the Pacific Northwest.

Health Advisory Issued August 12 for Water Contact at Sunset Bay State Park Beach

Neighboring beaches are not affected by this advisory.

(COOS COUNTY, Ore.) - beach wave The Oregon Health Authority issued a public health advisory today for high levels of bacteria in ocean waters at Sunset Bay State Park Beach in Coos County.

Water samples indicate higher-than-normal levels of fecal bacteria, which can result in diarrhea, stomach cramps, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections and other illnesses.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Anbar Lions flag ISIL The former director of the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has said that the rise of the ISIL terrorist group in Syria was a "willful decision" made by Washington.

(PHILIPPINE SEA) - Logan Brown Firecontrolman 3rd class Logan Brown from McMinnville, Oregon performs erosion maintenance on the hull of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD-48).

USS Ashland is assigned to the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group and is on patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.

Bat Found in Marion County Tests Positive for Rabies

Be suspicious of bats that approach people. See VIDEO below.

(SALEM, Ore.) - bat research Marion County health officials are reporting that a bat found inside a home tested positive for rabies on Tuesday, July 20, 2015. The test was conducted by the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory.

This is the fifth bat in Oregon to test positive for rabies in 2015, and the first in Marion County. Last year, eleven bats and three foxes tested positive for rabies throughout Oregon, but none in Marion County. The last time a bat found in Marion County tested positive for rabies was June 2012.

Man Rescued After 26 Foot Fall at Three Pools Park

Mason was taken to the Salem Hospital with serious injuries.

(MARION COUNTY, Ore.) - Rescue from Three Pools Rescuers worked for nearly two hours to recover 26-year old Mason Young, of Salem after he attempted a back flip off of the rocks, fell some 26 feet and missed the water at Three Pools Recreation Area.

Mason was originally assisted by bystanders and then later by Fire and Law Enforcement personnel from seven different jurisdictions.
