Police Shoot and Kill Attacking Pit Bull

The police sergeant's injury was described as a "substantial bite".

(SALEM) - In addition to his role as a sergeant with Salem Police, Jason VanMeder is a U.S. Marine. Police say a callout to a Domestic Disturbance led to a police sergeant suffering injuries from a dog attack, and the subsequent fatal shooting of a pit bull.

Officers reportedly knocked at the door of the residence, made contact, and issued instructions to the people inside the residence, to put the dog away.

Arrested Rwandan Generals are Being Tortured

It is believed that the three were arrested due to their close relationship with General Kayumba who lives in exile in South Africa.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Rwanda President Paul Kagame Sources in the UDF and RDF reported to this reporter that the four generals in Rwanda that have been arrested was falsely reported as being arrested for questionable dealings in the DRC but in reality they were arrested due to the fleeing of 600-800 soldiers in December 2011.

The arrest of these Generals has led to them allegedly being tortured.

Heavy Snow, Avalanches Strike Afghanistan

In 2010, more than 150 people were killed by slides in Salang Pass, which links Kabul to the north.

(STATE COLLEGE, Pa.) - The high, rugged Hindu Kush Mountains rise north and northeast of Kabul, Afghanistan (Google Maps) Heavy snow and snow slides have killed at least 28 people in the mountainous northeast of Afghanistan. The deaths, along with 45 injuries, were suffered in Badakhshan province, the AFP said on Thursday.

People have been trapped in their homes by up to three meters (about 10 feet) of snow. Roads have been cut, restricting access by rescuers.
