In a major embarrassment for the government, key UPA constituent DMK moved an amendment to the motion of thanks to the President’s address insisting that a paragraph be added on the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils in view of the reported human rights violations by the Lankan army during the civil war.
This is in addition to the disruptions in RS on Tuesday, in which the DMK took part in full measure.

Government today sought to mollify agitated DMK and AIADMK members who demanded India's support to a resolution at UNHCHR against Sri Lanka for alleged war crimes saying no date has been fixed yet for discussing the matter.
"Our traditional stand has been that we have never supported any country-specific resolution at the UNHCHR," Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told the Lok Sabha as DMK, AIADMK and CPI members rushed to the Well raising slogans on the issue.

Compassion has been informed of a horrific situation unfolding near Eritrea. Right now, thousands of cattle are dead or dying, stranded on a converted cargo ship in the Red Sea.
The recently converted livestock vessel Gracia Del Mar is carrying cattle from Brazil to Egypt. Reports suggest that one of the ship’s engines has broken down and this has led to ventilation failure resulting in extreme suffering and the death of many animals.

Sunday, at least 16 Afghan civilians were gunned down by a rogue U.S. Army soldier Sunday, who reportedly carried out the attack on an Afghan village after dark using night vision goggles.

EU Recommends Reversal of 2009 UNHRC Resolution Praising Sri Lanka

Cuba challenged the US Ambassador by asking her to submit a resolution on Guantanamo if they are so concerned with accountability issues.

UN Watch in Geneva, has reported that the EU has made recommendation to reverse the 2009 UNHRC Resolution that praised Sri Lanka’s conduct of the war.
The report also states that Sri Lankan Attorney-General challenged the premise and necessity of the draft.
