Human Rights Ambassador William Gomes Calls for Marriage Equality in France

In France’s foreign policy these fundamental principles in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity play an important role.

(YORK, UK) - Flag of France Human Rights Ambassador William Nicholas Gomes is concerned that France, traditionally a socially liberal country regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights, is now maintaining more conservative stances such as the non-recognition of same-sex marriage.

In June 2011, an Ifop poll found that 63% of respondents were in favour of same-sex marriage, while 58% supported adoption rights for same-sex couples. Over five years, the percentage of French citizens supporting gay and lesbian marriage grew by one percent.

Supreme Court Endorses IHC decision, Dismissing `Blasphemy Case`

Rimsha was arrested after a neighbor accused her of burning papers from the Quran.

(ISLAMABAD) - Rimsha after she was initially cleared in the case. The Apex Court dismissed the appeal filed against Islamabad High Court (IHC), decision who dismissed the FIR filed against 14-year-old Christian girl, Rimsha, who was accused of committing blasphemy.

The verdict was announced on an appeal application filed by Malik Ummad through his lawyer seeking to re-open the case of Rimsha.

Rizana Nafeek was beheaded on Wednesday in a case that sparked widespread international condemnation, including from rights groups that said she was just 17 when she was charged with murdering the baby in 2005.

(RIYADH, al Jazeera) - Rizana Nafeek Saudi Arabia has criticised world reaction to its beheading of a Sri Lankan maid convicted of killing her employer's baby.

Riyadh "deplores the statements made... over the execution of a Sri Lankan maid who had plotted and killed an infant by suffocating him to death, one week after she arrived in the kingdom", the government spokesman said.

Everyone thought Pakistan was moving towards justice, now again the blasphemy case against Rimsha Masih is challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

(ISLAMABAD) - Rimsha A teen girl named Rimsha was arrested from a slum in Islamabad on 16 August, 2012 after a neighbour accused her of burning pages of Norani Qaida bearing verses from the Quran, which is a violation of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws under section 295B PPC.

She suffered after being remanded to custody for three weeks in an adult jail in a case that prompted worldwide condemnation.
