India Concerned Over Resolutions at UNHRC

Sri Lanka is one of the countries against which a resolution is expected to be presented at the ongoing UNHRC session.

(GENEVA) - UNHCR India is concerned that the recent trend of country specific resolutions may well weaken constructive dialogue and cooperative approach which has prevailed so far in the UN Human Rights Council.

Sri Lanka is one of the countries against which a resolution is expected to be presented at the ongoing UNHRC session and Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe had said this week that Sri Lanka is hopeful of India’s support against the resolution.

Most of the other large billboards and banners on the same stretch are also directed at visiting tourists, but these are less political and exhort them to visit beach locations or buy jewelery.

(SAYDABAD, Bangladesh) - Herman Kumara A noted human rights activist arrived in Sri Lanka several days ago following an international conference in Rome, and noticed that he was being followed by a van; of course potentially synonymous with the notorious 'White Van' disappearances which Sri Lanka has become internationally noted for.

The suspicious behavior of the group led him to believe that he was in danger of being abducted. Herman Kumara is currently in hiding.
