Bananas Over Fair Trade

One group of farmers who benefit from fair trade is banana growers. Bananas are the most consumed fresh fruit in the U.S., and represents 50 percent of all U.S. fresh fruit imports.

Humane Society and Oregon Wild Join Coalition to Stop Gillnetting

Chief petitioners are David Schamp, Fred Girod and Rod Monroe.

(PORTLAND, OR) - Salmon trapped in gillnet Two nonprofit groups today announced their support for a proposed ballot measure to stop commercial gillnet fishing on the lower Columbia.

The Humane Society of the United States and Oregon Wild endorsed the measure sponsored by the Stop Gillnetting Now coalition, which is headed for the November ballot.
