Breaking News: Looting, Extortion, Police Harassment, Continuing in Maungdaw, Burma

In the meanwhile, the area's only Muslim Lawyer, U Kyaw Min, has been set up in what advocates say is a false case.

(MAUNGDAW, Burma) - Rakhine terrorists & Security forces marching together towards Rohingya village (Than Taw Li) in Sittwe. The police officers in Maungdaw spent the whole day rounding up a file of arrest warrant lists with the intention of extorting money from Rohingyas.

Police officer, Aung Kyaw Kham raided a village, Alipara ( Quarter No.2) on 8th October and arrested 5 persons. However the officer freed them by taking 300,000 kyats as a bribe.

Burmese Rohingya Group Issues Strong Condemnation Letter

Advocates say Burma's government is not taking any action intentionally.

(MILWAUKEE, WI) - police stand in from of a mosque in Akyab, Arakan State, Myanmar. Those responsible are a group of Rakhine Buddhist extremists in the collaboration with the Burmese security forces- Hluntin and police.

Besides burning the central mosque in Akyab, about 3,000 Buddhist Rakhine extremist surrounded remaining the Rohingya villages Aung Mingala and Maueik to attack, killing and to destroy whole villages, sources report.

(NEW YORK CITY) - Protest in New York City Rohingya Concern International (RCI) actively participated under the banner of Burma Task Force/New York in the demonstration held on September 27, 2012 while Burmese President Thein Sein was delivering a speech at Asia Society/NYC.

In his speech RCI- President said that Rohingyas are bona fide citizens and an imdegenous people of Burma/Myanmar.

(SITTWE AKYAB, Myanmar) - Events around Sittwe earlier today. Today 7th Oct 2012, 300 Rakhine Buddhists attacked ancient central Mosque of Sittwe, Akyab, the biggest historical Mosque in Arakan State.

First the Rakhine burned the Imam and Muazin houses which were located in the compound of Mosque, and later they burnt all those Rohingya houses near the Mosque.

OIC Collects $25 Million for Rohingya and Rakhine

Recent tensions between Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine left civilians dead and hundreds of homes destroyed.

(RANGOON, Burma) - Royhinga victims in Burma The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has collected around US$25 million in funds during the second consultative meeting on humanitarian aid in Doha, Qatar on Friday for victims of the Rohingya-Rakhine conflict in Myanmar.

The funds will be used for rehabilitation and reconstruction in the areas affected by the conflict.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Rakhines holding weapons during declaring of Act Of Law 144 inside the Sittwe town Ethnic tension has consumed Burma in recent weeks and now the problems are spilling over in a retaliatory fashion, into Bangladesh.

It all began over the reported rape of a Buddhist woman in Burma, a long closed pariah state which the Buddhist government renamed Myanmar. Almost immediately after that happened, a bus carrying Muslim men in Burma was pulled over, and the passengers murdered in open daylight.
