Many People Killed and Wounded in Army Shootings Across Arakan

At least 10 Arakanese have been killed in an army crackdown on the fresh violence across Arakan state, according to relatives of the deceased.

(RANGOON, Burma Narinjara) - Myanmar army On the morning of 25 October, around 6 am, three people were killed during a clash between Arakanese Buddhists and Muslims in Kyauk Taw Township, located at Upper Kaladan River.

Of the deceased, two were killed by security forces while the other was killed in the clash.

A US Congressional report says progress in this regard is likely to figure in any Congressional consideration of US policy on Burma.

(BANGKOK) - Ethnic Rohingya Muslim refugees from Myanmar hold placards and shout slogans during a rally in front of the US embassy in Bangkok on Wednesday, calling for international intervention. Hundreds of Buddhist university students rallied on Wednesday against Muslims in a flashpoint city at the centre of communal tensions in western Myanmar, a protest leader told AFP.

The protest in Sittwe, capital of Rakhine state, followed overnight violence in nearby towns as a fresh outbreak of unrest between ethnic Rakhine and Muslim Rohingya stretched into a third day.

They were burned in western Burma as violence between Rohingya Muslims and Rakhine Buddhists spread to six villages, authorities said on Tuesday.
