Global Civil Society Calls for Permanent Solution to G 33 Food Security Proposal in WTO

Human Rights Ambassador, William Nicholas Gomes, joined Global civil society calling for a Permanent Solution to G 33 Food Security Proposal in WTO.

(Washington, D.C) - Salem-News.com Today, Human Rights Ambassador for Salem-News.com, William Nicholas Gomes, has joined a group of over 270 civil society organizations, along with a broad range of civil society groups urging Roberto Azevedo, the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation and WTO member states, to take the issue of food security in developing countries as a matter of serious and immediate concern.

They are the groups not to render the G-33 proposal on public food stockholding a travesty by asking developing countries to agree to the current text on the peace clause.

The Farm Bill is a massive law that makes the rules not only for farmers, but for almost all aspects of our food, affecting everything from the price of milk, to subsidies for factory farms, to food stamps for families in need. Congress was supposed to renew this bill back in 2012, but the House and Senate can't agree on what the new bill should look like. So they've extended it again, and again, and again.

OCA Calls for Boycott of Nestle USA`s Organic Gerber Baby Food and Sweet Leaf Tea

Nestlé was recently caught laundering over $1 million through the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) to defeat Washington State’s I-522 GMO labeling initiative

(FINLAND, Minn. ) - Organic Consumers Association The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) today called on its million-plus network to boycott Nestlé USA’s organic Gerber Baby Food and Sweat Leaf Tea.

Last year Nestlé contributed $1.5 million to help narrowly defeat Proposition 37, a California initiative to label GMOs. This year, rather than openly admit to consumers that the company is trying to hide the truth about the GMO ingredients in its products, Nestlé secretly funneled over $1 million, through the Grocery Manufacturers Association, to the campaign to defeat Washington State’s I-522 GMO labeling initiative.

Judge Lifts Timber Contract Suspension Order

“The suspensions just made things harder for everyone in a situation that was already difficult" - Tom Partin, President of American Forest Resource Council

(PORTLAND, OR) - Oregon forest Oregon Federal District Court Judge Panner today issued a nationwide Order immediately lifting suspensions of all federal timber contacts. The Order is effective as of 10:30 a.m. PDT.

“We are very pleased that the Judge has recognized the need for our workers to get immediately back in the woods producing logs for our mills to run this winter and providing revenue to the federal government,” said Tom Partin, President of American Forest Resource Council, one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

The recalled product bears the establishment number “P-20923” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a use-by date of “JUN 22 2013” printed on each tray.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Foster Farms Recall Foster Farms, a Porterville, Calif. establishment, is recalling approximately 6,165 pounds of ready-to-eat grilled chicken breast strips.

The food contains wheat and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today.
