17-Years in Jail for One Woman Journalist, Seven Years for Another

The two women have been detained since last July.

(RWANDA) - Agnes Uwimana Nkusi Reporters Without Borders is appalled by the pigheadedness and cruelty of the Rwandan judicial system.

An extremely long jail sentences was just handed down to two women journalists, Agnes Uwimana Nkusi, the editor of the privately-owned bimonthly Umurabyo, and Saidath Mukakibibi, one of her reporters.

Fiftieth Anniversary of U.S. Orchestrated Assassination of Congo`s Patrice Lumumba

We will never know what would have happened in the Congo or Africa or elsewhere if he had survived. But the United States saw to it that he never had a chance.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Patrice Lumumba This month marks the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of Patrice Émery Lumumba. This Congolese independence leader and legally elected PM of the Republic of the Congo helped win its independence from Belgium in June 1960.

Ten weeks later, the US helped orchestrate a coup of Lumumba's government. Lumumba was then imprisoned and murdered.
