Suns Hold On For 97-92 Victory Over Portland

Brandon Roy had 25 points for Portland, which has lost five of its last seven

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Amare StoudemireAvoiding a third straight loss wasn't easy for the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns built a 23-point lead against the Portland Trail Blazers, saw most of it slip away late, then held on for 97-92 victory Tuesday night. Amare Stoudemire scored 22 points for the Suns, who have struggled with adjusting to new center Shaquille O'Neal in the lineup.

Before the victory over the Blazers, the Suns had lost four of their last six and had surrendered the top spot of the Western Conference's Pacific Division to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Three Oregon State Wrestlers Heading to NCAA Championships

Sophomore Keegan Davis from Salem, finished fifth at 165 pounds.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Travis GardnerSenior Travis Gardner (Portland, Ore.) and junior Kyle Bressler (Federal Way, Wash.) earned decisions in their championship matches at heavyweight and 197 pounds to win individual titles at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships, leading the Beavers to a third place finish with 106.0 points.

Oregon State will now send the three wrestlers, Larson, Gardner and Bressler, to St. Louis, Mo., for the 2008 NCAA Wrestling Championships held Mar. 20-22.

Former Arizona State Coach Takes Over at Western Oregon

Brad Saindon replaces Joe Houck, who resigned last month to become the head coach at the University of Portland.

(MONMOUTH, Ore. ) - Brad SaindonBrad Saindon, former head coach at Arizona State and Colorado, has been named the new leader of the Western Oregon University volleyball team, athletic director Jon Carey announced on Monday.

Saindon, who has built or re-built programs at nearly every level of volleyball, was the head coach at Arizona State for the past five seasons. He has also led programs at the University of Colorado and Regis College and has a collegiate record of 296-211.

Simply bring your canned food to Sunshine Division trucks in the parking lot of either ski area this Friday, March 7, and Sunshine Division staff will collect the food and issue free lift tickets.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Maarty LeunenMaarty Leunen had a career-high 32 points and Oregon ended the game on a 12-3 run as the Ducks beat Oregon State 80-68 on Sunday.

Leunen scored 23 points and hit six of his seven 3-pointers in the second half for Oregon (16-12, 7-9 Pacific-10 Conference) in the 329th meeting between the schools, the most in college basketball.

NASCAR: Carl Edwards Victory in Las Vegas Will Stand

Edwards has won the past two Sprint Cup races, and with his victory Sunday, vaulted him and the No. 99 car to the top of the driver and owner point standings.

(LAS VEGAS) - carl edwardsCarl Edwards' Sprint Cup victory in the UAW-Dodge 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will stand, but he's likely to lose some of the driver and owner points he earned after NASCAR officials found "an issue" with his No. 99 Ford in post-race inspection late Sunday.

NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Edwards' car did not fail post-race inspection. But inspectors did find something amiss.
