`Cats Cruise Past Willamette, 3-0

With the loss Willamette drops to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Linfield volleyball photoThe defending Northwest Conference champions opened up league play in style Wednesday night at Ted Wilson Gym.

Linfield handled visiting Willamette in three games, winning by the scores of 30-16, 32-30, and 30-14.

Linfield pushed its overall record past .500, moving to 5-4 overall on the season, and 1-0 in NWC play.

No. 19 Oregon Faces Upset Minded Fresno State on Saturday

The Ducks and Bulldogs are meeting for a third consecutive season and eighth time overall.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Ducks Dennis DixonSaturday’s kickoff between Oregon and Fresno State at Autzen Stadium is set for 4:00 p.m. PDT.

After a decisive 39-7 win in front of nearly 110,00 fans at Michigan, the Ducks went from unranked to No. 19 in the Associated Press poll this week.

The Bulldogs suffered a tough loss at No. 23 Texas A&M, losing to the Aggies 47-45 in triple overtime.

Oregon Remains Undefeated With Sweep of Pilots

The Ducks also have not dropped a single game this season with 30 played.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Ducks Sonja NewcombeThe Oregon volleyball team won its 10th-straight match of the season and remained undefeated on Tuesday night, ousting the visiting Portland Pilots 3-0 (30-22, 30-20, 30-11) at McArthur Court.

It is just the third time in Oregon volleyball history that a team has rallied off 10 straight victories - the feat was also accomplished in 2006 and 1984.

Oregon held the Pilots' attack to a -.060 attacking percentage, the best mark for the Ducks this season and marking the sixth time an Oregon opponent has been held under .100 hitting percentage.

Oregon State, coming off two straight national championships, is one of those top 25 teams in the Web site’s pre-fall rankings.

Rivals.com cites the return of senior Mike Stutes, a ninth-round selection by St. Louis in the most recent MLB draft, as well as College World Series Most Valuable Player Jorge Reyes, just a freshman in 2007, as major reasons for the Beavers to be rated among the nation’s best.

Corban's Laughlin Honored as Conference & Regional POW

So far this season, Laughlin is tied for the team lead in both goals with three and assists with two.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Sara LaughlinAfter scoring a pair of goals and handing out an assist during Corban's women's soccer trip to the state of Montana, senior midfielder Sara Laughlin was named both NAIA Region I and Cascade Collegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office.

The 5-foot senior opened the weekend by assisting on Corban's second goal and then scored the Warriors' fourth goal in their 6-1 victory over Frontier Conference member Great Falls on Saturday.

On Sunday, Laughlin tallied Corban's lone goal against the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' (NAIA) No. 8-ranked Saints of Carroll College in the Warriors' 4-1 loss in Helena, Montana.

Concordia Downs Corban, 3-1

After eight matches this season, Corban finds itself at 4-4 overall, 2-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Corban Rashelle DavenportDespite four different players recording 10-or-more kills, Corban's women's volleyball team dropped its opening home match of the season, 3-1 (15-30, 26-30, 30-27, 17-30), to the Cavaliers of Concordia Tuesday night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

Junior Rashelle Davenport and senior Ashley Lange led the Warriors with 13 kills each, while freshman Kristen Eiler and junior Chelsea Reeher added 12 and 10 kills respectively.

In a battle of two undefeated teams in conference play, the visiting Cavaliers of Concordia came out firing on all cylinders in the opening game and rolled to a 30-15 win.

Blazers Oden to Undergo Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

A timetable for Oden’s return will be set following the arthroscopic surgery.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - greg oden photoPortland Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard announced today that rookie center -- and the Number One pick in the NBA draft -- Greg Oden will undergo exploratory arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday after experiencing pain in his right knee.

A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) taken last week showed Oden may have some cartilage problems in the knee.
