“I thought our guys played really tough,” Oregon State head coach Steve Simmons said after the game. “It’s one of those games that if you win, it’s not as good as it looks, and if you lose, than it’s not as bad as it looks. There are a lot of positives from this game.”

The Ducks will battle the Cougars on Thursday, Oct. 1, before closing the weekend with a Saturday morning match against the Wildcats. (EUGENE, Ore.) - Senior defender Danielle Sweeney and junior forward Rianna Mansfield scored goals to lead the University of Oregon soccer team to its sixth straight victory on Friday night, a 2-0 home win over Portland State. The win improved the Ducks' record to 7-1-1 overall, while PSU dropped to 4-5-1.
"I thought we played good soccer tonight," head coach Tara Erickson said. "I liked our mentality to keep the ball and to solve pressure (from PSU). I thought our attack was very dynamic."

(FOREST GROVE, Ore.) - The Willamette University volleyball team was defeated by Pacific University, 3-1, on Friday, Sept. 25. The Bearcats started out strong, winning the first set 25-18. Pacific battled back to win the next three sets, however, 25-11, 30-28 and 25-13.
The Bearcats were led by senior Jessie McGraw (OH, Gaston, OR/Yamhill-Carlton HS/Corban College) during the first set. McGraw recorded four kills during the set, as the Bearcats got off to a strong start. During the set, WU took advantage of nine hitting errors made by the Boxers to help the Bearcats register a 25-18 win.

In set one, a kill by Eliza Pledger ignited a 7-0 run that boosted the Bruins from an 11-6 lead to 18-6, with Ali Toedtemeier doing the serving honors, including one ace.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - More than half of the men’s field for the Bill Dellinger Invitational will be ranked among the nation’s top 30, while the women will have three of the country’s top 13 teams as the squads for the fourth annual cross country race were announced on Tuesday.
The Bill Dellinger Invitational will be held on Oct. 2 at Springfield Country Club. The women’s race begins at 3:30 p.m., with the men going off at 4:15 p.m.

Today the women scored a perfect 15 points, snagging the top 7 spots in the 5k race. The top Geoduck performance at the meet was by Senior Brian Rakestraw (Woodinville, WA) who finished third overall in 25:56.83.

( SALEM, Ore.) - The Willamette University football team, ranked #8 in the D3Football.com Preseason Top 25, has returned to the national poll following back-to-back victories over California Lutheran University on Sept. 12 and Southern Oregon University on Sept. 19. Willamette, 2-1 on the season, will host the University of La Verne at McCulloch Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. (PDT).
The Bearcats fell out of the Top 25 after losing to Concordia College-Moorhead, 24-17, in the season opener in Moorhead, Minn., on Sept. 5. Willamette responded with a 20-13 home victory over California Lutheran before winning downing Southern Oregon, 22-15, on the road.
