Ducks Hairston Named to Wooden Preseason List

Last year, Kevin Durant of the University of Texas was the first freshman to win the Wooden Award.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Malik HairstonOregon guard Malik Hairston was named to the John R. Wooden Award's preseason top 50 for the second straight season.

Hairston averaged 11.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as Oregon went 29-8, won the Pac-10 tournament and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight. Two returning Wooden All-Americans made the list, center Tyler Hansbrough of North Carolina and Kansas guard Brandon Rush.

CCC Women's Soccer: Oregon Tech Ends Warriors Season

Corban's season comes to an end with an overall record of 10-9-0, 7-3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Erin LaughlinFor the second season in a row, Corban's women's soccer team had its season cut short by the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech in the conference post-season tournament semifinals, 2-1, despite a goal from freshman Erin Laughlin in the 84th minute on Wednesday at Sparks Field on the campus of Willamette University.

Holding onto the one-goal advantage, Oregon Tech fought with everything that it had in the first half just to keep Corban off the score board.

NWC Women's Soccer: Willamette Blanks Lewis & Clark

With the win, Willamette improved to 5-8-2 overall, 4-7-2 in the NWC.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - willamette soccerWillamette University junior forward Lauren Miller scored three goals for a hat trick, leading the Bearcats to a 3-0 Northwest Conference victory over Lewis & Clark College at Griswold Stadium on Tuesday.

The hat trick by Miller was Willamette's first three-goal performance since Brenna Hindman tallied three goals in a 5-1 win at Whitworth University on Oct. 23, 2004.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Karyn AllenFor the third time this season, Corban junior goalkeeper Karyn Allen has been named Cascade Collegiate Conference and NAIA Region I Defensive Player of the Week thanks to performance against Warner Pacific in helping Corban advance to the post-season tournament.

Last Wednesday, the 5-foot-8 net-minder played all 90 minutes between the pipes for the Warriors and posted a shut-out victory over fellow conference member Warner Pacific en route to helping the Warriors capture the post-season tournament's No. 2-seed and a first-round bye.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - osu baseballThe Oregon State baseball team could not decide on a winner in the second game of the Orange and Black World Series Tuesday at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. Despite an early lead from the black club, the game ended in a 7-7 tie in the seven-inning affair.

The black club took an early lead, going up 7-3 after four innings.

Oregon's Salling Chosen to Canadian Olympic Team

As a freshman for UO in 2007, Salling rattled off one of the most amazing seasons in Pac-10 history.

(EUGENE, Ore) - Jenn Salling University of Oregon All-America shortstop Jenn Salling received official confirmation last week, that she was among 15 players chosen to the Canadian team for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The Port Coquitlam, B.C. native started all five of her China Cup games and went 2-12 at the plate in the third and fourth spots with a triple, had one RBI and walked twice.

Oregon's Stewart Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

The No. 5 Ducks host No. 9 USC Saturday, with a live telecast on FSN starting at noon.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Jonathan StewartOregon running back Jonathan Stewart has been named offensive Pac-10 Player of the Week after a dominant rushing display against the University of Washington. The junior racked up career highs of 32 carries and 251 rushing yards, adding two touchdowns, in leading Oregon to a 55-34 victory in Seattle.

Stewart’s 251 yards on the ground were the most in the Pac-10 since 2005. The Lacey, Wash., native currently leads the Pac-10 with 940 rushing yards.
