(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Two motorcyclists were injured, one seriously, after they lost control while trying to stop for slowing traffic Friday morning eastbound on Interstate 84 near Rooster Rock.

Police say that just after 11:00 AM, a group of about eight motorcycles traveling together eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 23 had to slow quickly for stopping traffic. Two motorcycle operators braked hard and lost control as their motorcycles went down onto the pavement.

60-year old Thomas E. Joesph of Battle Ground, Washington, was seriously injured. He was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Heath Sciences University. 59-year old G. Richard Bogdahn of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to OSHU. Both were wearing protective headgear.

Highway conditions at the time were wet. One lane was closed about 40 minutes at the scene.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are completing the investigation. Assistance at the scene provided by Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, Corbett Fire Department and ODOT.
