(SALEM) - NORTH SALEM FANS REJOICE!!! The Vikings (3-1 overall, 1-0 CVC) battled, clawed, and won the 53rd annual “Mayor’s Cup” against South Salem 21-18 at Bennett Field Friday night. The Saxons (1-3 overall, 0-1) lost to the Vikings for the first time since 1989. The Vikings defense was solid once again, and next week will once against face a tough task at home against West Salem. Sprague, who had been struggling so far this season, beat the team who many thought would win the Central Valley Conference this season. The Olympians, (1-3 overall, 1-0 CVC) won a close game against the West Salem Titans (1-2 overall, 0-1 CVC) 27-25 at West Salem for their first win of the year. McKay got back on the winning track by beating cross-town rival McNary. The Royal Scots (2-2 overall, 1-0 CVC) got off to a slow start, and then came alive in the second half, and rolled past the Celtics ( 2-2 overall, 0-1 CVC), 26-14 at McKay. Redmond was the only team in the Central Valley team playing a non-conference game Friday night. The Panthers (2-2 overall, 0-0 CVC) ran away from the Milwaukie Mustangs (0-3 overall) 35-7. In the Mid-Willamette Conference, Silverton (1-3 overall, 0-1 MWC) was manhandled by the West Albany Bulldogs (4-0 overall, 1-0 MWC) 49-3 in Albany. Corvallis could give West Albany a run for it’s money for the Mid-Willamette crown. The Spartans (3-0 overall, 1-0 MWC) crushed the Dallas Dragons (0-3 overall, 0-0 MWC) 49-25 at Dallas. Lebanon got it’s first win of the year. The Warriors (1-3 overall, 1-0 MWC) beat the Crescent Valley Raiders (0-4 overall, 0-1 MWC) 36-0 in Lebanon. Santiam Christian keep on rolling.
