(SALEM, Ore.) - Documentation was obtained from the Abu Sayyaf camp that a key figure in ISIS was in charge of oil smuggling operations. He was killed several months ago in an attack by US forces, suggested an association between high-level officials in Turkey and the senior member of ISIS. A senior Western official acknowledged in an interview with The Guardian: "...direct trading between Turkish officials and high-ranking members of the Islamic State is undeniable." However, Western officials avoided direct criticism of the Turkish decision makers. Turkey, in recent days, and after two years of air strikes in Syria, has been accused of facilitating foreign terrorists crossing from its territory into Syria under the pretext that the present action against the Islamic movement violates the territorial integrity of Syria and Iraq. ISIS has not been targeted in Turkish attacks, and excuses; fighting al-Qaeda, terrorism and mass destruction weapons, are actually excuses, as Turkey seeks to gain a foothold in the region. The Guardian writes that Abu Sayyaf Tunisian fighters were, from mid-2013, responsible for the smuggling of oil from the eastern part of Syria. The black market sale of oil, quickly became the most important Islamic income and the Turkish side also were the biggest buyers. Sources: The Guardian _________________________________________
