(KEIZER) - The Keizer Police Department will be presenting a free community presentation in Spanish on Oregon traffic laws, including information on obtaining an Oregon Driver’s License, as part of the educational component to seek voluntary compliance in reducing dangerous driving behavior and motor vehicle crashes.

The class will cover the basic rules of the road, the most commonly observed traffic violations, the most dangerous driving behaviors and information on how to prepare for the licensing test.

The class is free and registration is not required.

The class will be taught by two bilingual Keizer Police Officers, one of which is assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit.

The Keizer Police Department will not be issuing driver licenses.

The presentation will take place Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Keizer Police Department Auditorium, located at 930 Chemawa Road NE.

It's only a matter of time before Spanish is an official language alongside English. So much apathy and little care for the way things were. I don't think it matters anyway. Heck, I think we deserve what we are getting. Ok, time to rant..Look at so many other countries, who are supposedly NOT free, unlike our supposedly free country. People in many of them DO something about it when things happen they dont agree with. Here we just get on blogs, like me, or go down to the nearest Starbucks, bar or dealer and drown out our problems and dumb down ourselves in front of a television watching Faux News or other government controlled media, watching for how we should feel about life in America. This country has gotten pathetic in many ways. If we actually had a REAL threat, over here, we would get the floor wiped with our indifference and complacency. Sure there would be some uprising and defense, but other than our military we are more than used to our cush lazy simple lifestyles and would just plain get wiped. I mean come on, if say, North Korea and Iran got together and invaded, with us already at war all over the globe, it would just be catastrophic. But hey, we have money to throw 300 billion in Iraq, and locking ppl up for 40 years for petty drug crap, so why wonder. There will come a day, at this rate, were the country I loved will go down in flames. It has happened since the dawn of man. Every superpower that rests on its own BS for too long gets the power yanked at some point. But again, I think in some ways we need it to get our priorities back. Get out troops back home to protect our needs and interests here. Hopefully it won't be too late. Anyway, I'm rambling so I guess I'll go dumb myself down some more.

Actually, that's the whole reason we have signs in a specific shape: red octagon means stop; yellow pentagon means school zone; red triangle means yield. It's an ingenious system, really. Personally, I'd rather have Spanish-speakers driving legally and safely than otherwise.

What a waste. If they cannot read the "English" signs they should not be driving r have adriver's license. And that goes for ANY language.
