Sep-18-2006 10:40 ![]() ![]() Three Alarm Fire in Albany Called SuspiciousSalem-News.comFour apartments on the corner of First and Broadalbin were evacuated due to the fire.
(ALBANY) - The Albany Fire Department responded to a first alarm structure fire at 300 SW Second Avenue just before 1:45 AM Monday morning. It quickly became a second alarm and was moved up to a third alarm fire at 2:02 AM. Scio, Adair, Lebanon, Corvallis, Tangent, and Jefferson Fire Departments were called in to assist at the scene as well as cover the city with any other emergencies. Approximately 44 fire personnel at the scene and the fire was under control just before 3:00 AM. The building is occupied by three businesses: Albany Coins & Jewelry, AAA Sports & Games, and Briscoe & Associates. Also affected by the fire was an adjoining business, Western States Benefits. There were no injuries. Estimated loss to the building is $250,000. Estimated loss to the contents of the four businesses is $60,000. The fire is determined suspicious and is under investigation by both the Albany fire and police departments.
