(SALEM) - Economic development achievements throughout the State of Oregon were recognized with Awards of Excellence at the Oregon Economic Development Association’s Annual Conference, Back to Business 2, in Eugene on September 12th.

SEDCOR’s Enterprise magazine received honors for the Creative Marketing and Promotions category.

This award recognizes outstanding efforts and achievements in economic development marketing.

Judging was based on the effectiveness of the promotion, innovation/creativity, content - including the quality and completeness of information, the results relative to cost, and the contribution to the economic development profession.

Susan Appleby, editor said, "It was quite an honor to receive this recognition for the magazine. For an editor, feedback is what makes the effort worthwhile. The feature articles and profiles create a platform to showcase businesses in the Mid-Willamette Valley."

The Enterprise, a full-color quarterly magazine addresses local business concerns which are relevent to our members and issues affecting economic growth in the region. In addition to feature articles, each issue fosters business development with member profiles and news, the wide-range of resources available, partnerships, workforce development, international trade and other useful data related to the economy, business climate and quality of life.

Janet Taylor, Salem Mayor stated, "Economic development does not happen in a vacuum, or without widespread community support. The Enterprise magazine published by the Strategic Economic Development Corporation (SEDCOR) here in Salem brings information on local business success, challenges, and educational opportunities. They have been crucial to the increasing awareness of the importance of business to developing a successful community."

SEDCOR’s mission is to enhance and diversify the economy of the Mid-Willamette Valley by supporting and enhancing the performance of existing businesses and recruiting new businesses to Marion and Polk Counties.
