Are New Yorkers Really Cold?

At the ceremony Bloomberg will make a speech and puff out his chest but where will the real heroes be?

911 first responders
Mayor Michael Bloomberg says these guys who did the rescuing and dying during 9/11 can be honored at some other time.

(HARRISVILLE, N.H.) - Here is just one more example of how politicians (i.e. the talkers) consider themselves above the workers like firemen, police officers, factory workers, and office workers (i.e. the doers):

Mayor Michael Bloomberg

According to CNN and verified at Snopes.com, “Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office issued a statement saying that due to space constraints, this year’s September 11 memorial ceremony at ground zero (the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks), was to focus on the victims family members and that first responders would be honored at different places and different times”.

So, due to lack of room, NYC Police Officers, NYFD Firefighters and rescue crews, and Port Authority Police Officers, are not invited to attend this year’s remembrance ceremony at ground zero. Hm-m-m-m, if I remember correctly, they were not invited on September 11, 2001 either, but members of these groups (both on-duty and off-duty), made their way to the Trade Center twin-towers and were responsible for saving hundreds of lives. Many of those “First Responders” lost their lives in the process.

CNN notes that “When debris rained from the sky in lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001, the first responders to the terrorist attack did not turn away. They rushed to the World Trade Center buildings while the world around them crumbled.”

From the article:
Should NYC's Bloomberg Rethink Snub of First Responders on 9/11 Anniversary?

They further state “Yet now, after all the wreckage has been cleared and the rebuilding has begun, their path is again blocked --- not by flying chunks of smoldering rubble, but by space constraints”.

Yes, Michael Bloomberg will be at the ceremony, making a speech and puffing out his chest but where will the real heroes of that day be? They will be sitting home or at work, some of them watching the throng of people who were not even there on that day, take part in that ceremony. I just have to wonder if any of the attendees will ask Bloomberg how many people he saved that day? Will anyone ask him if he showed-up to even try to help that day? Will anyone ask where the brave First Responders are and why are they were not invited to the ceremony?

Does anyone really believe that the attending family members would rather see a politician with more money than brains and a bigger ego than heart, than the real heroes of that fateful day? The fact that so many died in the World Trade Center buildings on that tragic day is in no way due to lack of trying. The first Responders buried too many of their brethren for anyone to believe that!

New Yorkers have developed a reputation for being cold. Well, you could not tell that from the actions of the first responders on September 11, 2001. They risked life and limb for others on that day, just as they do almost every other day of their lives. No... if New Yorkers have developed a reputation of being cold, it was much more likely as a result of the world watching and listening to Michael Bloomberg... but, that is just my opinion!

Good questions Luke. I assume he will be partying with the Congressional dignitaries he has invited to the ceremonies. Nice huh?

At home nursing their wounds (physical & emotional) to sick to come out. BTW, where was the billionaire mayor before and where will he be after the ceremonies?
