(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - A local Portland hospital notified authorities that at least three burn patients received medical attention at the hospital at 10:00 AM Sunday. Two of the patients are reported to have sustained life-threatening burns.

These three burn patients apparently had been immersed in the Austin Hot Springs, scalding them and resulting in these life-threatening burns. The percolating water in this Austin Hot Spring can allegedly emerge – at anytime –in excess of 190 degrees.

This unconfirmed, preliminary information indicates that two of the burn victims are adult females and one is a 4-year-old child. This burn incident occurred in the last 24-hours at the Austin Hot Springs.

Austin Hot Springs is described to be a privately owned property and has been closed to the public for sometime; however, previous incidents of trespassing on these premises have been reported.

Austin Hot Springs is located 37-miles south east of Estacada, along the Clackamas River, along State Hwy 224, almost halfway between Estacada and Detroit.

Wow! Parboiled at the hot-springs. What a way to go. An old back country trapper told me once he'd caught a fish next to a hot springs, and about the same time as he caught it, a large amount of hot water welled up from the spring, and by the time he finished reeling it in, the fish was cooked.

I feel sorry for the kid but, maybe the adults will think twice before trespassing again...if they live.
