America's Most Sensible Choice

If Democrats win the Presidency in November, win back the House and retain control of the Senate, it could assure AMERICA its Secular Government and preserve for posterity our Secular System...

Obama and Romney
Obama and Romney

(PASO ROBLES, CA) - In addition to his wealth, Romney seems also to have amassed a Messiah Complex, but he is less a Savior than he is an anomaly. Too much of any Religion at the head of what was meant to be a Secular Government is a fearful prospect. That’s why Romney’s desire to be President perplexes me. If he is elected, would he obey the GOP’s Holy See or adhere to the LDS’s’ expectations?

Rather than try to divine the possibilities, let me suggest the most sensible next four years would be a second term under Obama.

Justice John Roberts’ Supreme Court decision favoring Affordable Health Care was a complete surprise to the Republican Holy See’s power grab, denying them its attempt to control our government as Rome once dominated Catholics.

His vote was an enormous gift to our nation.

If Democrats win the Presidency in November, win back the House and retain control of the Senate, it could assure AMERICA its Secular Government and preserve for posterity our Secular System opposed to the anarchistic and dangerous design the Party of God would impose on us.

Kenneth G. Ramey, Salem-News.com's Religion and Philosophy Writer, confronts the hard issues of politics and religion from a logical point of view that combines interesting insight with history into the truth, or lack thereof, that underlies the strengths and weaknesses of the Religious Right’s determination to use American politics for its own misguided, or selfish, interest. It’s rare for a writer to balance his writing between religious values and the secular guarantees of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights with the knowledge that Ken possesses, and to do it so effectively.

Ken was born in Minnesota but was raised in California since 1932. He is the youngest of four boys raised by his mother alone during the dark years of the Great Depression. He Graduated from SFSU in the 1970s when in his mid-forties, majoring in Spanish North American History, and added three years of post-graduate study, much of it in Philosophy and Religion. We live at a critical time in history and believe Ken's views represent the view of many who are tired of the commercialism and false interpretations about religion today. Ralph what do you think would be different if Obama was re-elected? He gave zero planning info re: job creation and the economy during his convention speech. Then of course, who in his administration has any experience in the private sector creating non-government jobs?

Ralph E. Stone September 8, 2012 7:29 am (Pacific time)

In eight years Bush involved us in two wars and ruined our economy. Let's give Obama eight years to clean up the mess left to him.

Editor in early November we shall see what the American voter thinks of Mr. Eastwood. My belief is that the wave of conservative change will dwarf the 1994 and 2010 elections. As a combat veteran it completely sickened me to see that liar and tax dodger John Kerry taking the stage at the convention. We, the majority of Vietnam veterans hate that bastard even more than Clinton and his draft dodging behavior. You are too young and inexperienced to understand, bu the polls by us veterans back up what I say. Massachusttes voters have really messed up with Kerry and the murderer Kennedy, at least they got it right with Scott Brown and Romney, the best governor that state ever had.

DJ from day one Obama had a complete majority in the House and Senate. He passed anything he wanted, and for both the Stimulus and Obamacare the Republicans did not vote for them. The American voters by a sizeable majority want Obamacare repealed. Do you read our media down here DJ? Also have you reviewed the congressional vote on us removing Saddam from power and the Taliban from power? It was bi-partisan. In terms of economic problems elsewhere in the world, well there are many reasons, and PHD's in economics and other qualified professionals are quite diverse in why? So pick a side. Reagan inherited a far worse economy (look it up), for the unemployment rate was nearly 11% and the prime rate was over 22%. His policies from the get go turned things around. He also had to rebuild our military because of Carter, as did Bush because of the feckless Clinton and his personal ruminations. At least he signed Republican legislation to create one terrific economy the world benefited from. The 911 attack, and the terrorist attacks that picked up under Clinton (while he reduced our military) is what Bush inherited. He kept America safe. More miltary have been killed under Obama in Afghanistan in half the time than under Bush. Obama is, as Clint Eastwood asserts, a hoax.

DJ: Reagan  began his campaign in a reprehensible way by figuratively standing on the graves of Goodman, Cheney, and Schwerner in Philadelphia, Miss.. as he praised states rights, a code word for segregation. He continued and accelerated the attack on unions begun by Taft-Hartley. He shredded the social safety net , ballooned the federal deficit , and did his utmost to poison the federal judiciary by applying ideological litmus tests. He was the chief conspirator in Iran Contra, at least under a RICO standard application, and he absolutely unleashed greed as the prime motivating factor in our economy in which everything became a financial instrument and nothing, relatively speaking, was made. Millions became homeless. He ignored an attempt in a NATO partner of ours, Spain, to overthrow a legal elected government by neo-fascists, who had to be stopped by King Juan Carlos. He did nothing to encourage Marcos to depart the Philippines. That remained for Richard Lugar to do. Under his regime, we supported nun rapes and teacher murders in El Salvador, Guatamala, and Nicaragua. He  raised taxes at least 13 times  in his years as governor and president.  What a legacy! . Need I say more?

"Former Carmel Mayor/Director/Actor Clint Eastwood said the outpouring of criticism from left-wing reporters and liberal politicians after his appearance at the Republican National Convention last Thursday night, followed by an avalanche of support on Twitter and in the blogosphere, is all the proof anybody needs that his 12-minute discourse achieved exactly what he intended it to. “President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people,” Eastwood told The Pine Cone this week. “Romney and Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that’s what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.” Under Obama: 8.1% unemployment (over 40 straight months above 8%), 368,000 DROPPED OUT of job market in August alone, 88,921,000 'NOT IN LABOR FORCE'. What are Obama's policies? They are certainly not working. Time to fire him. http://www.pineconearchive.com/120907-1.html

Editor: Oh come on!  Everyone knows Clint Eastwood- Mr Mayor of Monterey is racist.  Look at how he ignored the Black Marines who hit the beach at Iwo Jima... those are my Marine Brothers and Eastwood is responsible for the worst Marine Corps storytelling in history with 'Heartbreak Ridge'.  My children could have made a better film.  So, why be surprised that he made an idiot out of himself?  I am sad, I have liked his acting on and off, but his legacy as an actor is belting women and being a deadly jerk.  Well, today he is his own worst enemy.  Now he's in a category with Ted Nugent and that is pretty sad.

It is amazing, how many people in this country are ignorant and prejudicial. I hope, good reason will carry the election.

Editor what has Obama done? He is a failure, and Romney, who will easily win, has a sterling (as per Clinton last June) record of accomplishment. So Romney is a Mormon, so what, he never set policy for them. How about other religions? Seems Mormons are pretty peaceful in comparison. You simply demonstrate that you are a tool for Obama and his extremists. Be very glad there are actual adults about to get America turned around young man. The writer of this article is retired and does not need a job, but he will need security, and Obama has hurt ours big time.

Editor: Obama came into office hoping to do many things, he may not be the answer but neither is Romney.

Obama will throw Islam down our throats. Sharia Law will dominate our Country. The Constitution will be gone and replaced by Sharia. What you ever worked for will be gone. Your rights will be gone. You will be living like in the ex Soviet Union. Eventually, it will be illegal to worship to your God. The way you write you are one of these anti American, anti everything what America stands for and you sure anti God when it comes to our freedom. Great move mister, your mother would be very proud of you. Read the book "fool me twice". It tells you all about Obamas second term. People like you should not be living in the United States of America, you should be living in Chavez' kingdom, North Korea or maybe China? Take a pick, but get the heck out of the USA, one Nation under GOD.

Editor: You  spell out your own ignorance big time Mr. Republican Taliban.  You are the Taliban of America and your perceptions mirror those of the wacko idiots in Afghanistan.  Your guy Romney, I mean he is fodder and little else; he has a terrible past with the Mormon Church which didn't even ease its rules against Black people until 1978.  It does shame us that people sporting these ancient attitudes are Americans.  Hugo Chavez is definitely a good president by the way; he did call 'W' the devil,  maybe you ought to be the one bailing out of America because, once again, you come across as nothing less than another right wing fascist fake-religion disgruntled person.  No offense of course.

There was no overt religious politics by Romney while Governor of  Massachussets. He lowered the states deficit from over 3 billion to 17 million, and lowered unemployment to 4.5% by the time he left office. His detractors say he created few jobs while governor, but at a 4.5% unemployment rate, he was very successful. The current governor there has over a 2 billion deficit and a very high unemployment rate. I noticed that during the recent democratic convention, one of their talking points is that "We all belong to the government." That's very similar to saying "We all belong to the CROWN." And that is why we started the Revolutionary War...We the people, own the government, at least that's what the Founders made real clear. During Obama's acceptance speech he never mentioned the Stimulus nor Obamacare, why? We have over 23 million people out of work, and if you count the number of people who were working when he was sworn in, and those who quit looking for work, we have an 11% unemployment rate. The combined unemployment and those working part time looking for full time work, gives us an effective 20%+ unemployment rate. So after nearly 4 years, including the democratic senate doing nothing, why would we want 4 more years of Obama? We know his capabilities, and we know Romney has a proven record. Mormonism, nor any other religion has been impacting our policies. Please note lawful abortions are as per the Supreme court, legal (Law of the Land), and still distractions on this matter are out there. Birth control is available to anyone, and can be gotten for free or around $10 a month. So some want more free stuff, does Fluke also want candles and silk sheets to be provided. I want free stuff to, but it's time to cut spending, and the dems simply promise free stuff for your votes, and that is destroying us. Take responsibility and study the issues before voting, know the lies going on. Look at Obama's record and list of 2008 promises. He's just making the same promises, just like the carnival barkers do...

DJ: And George Bush starting two unfunded wars, cutting taxes for the wealthy and deregulating Wall Street so greed could take, not just the U.S,. but the world to brink of a depression to rival the 1930s had nothing to do with the mess that Obama inherited, not to mention the Republican obstructionism from day one, wanting him to fail which would mean the whole nation would fail? The Republicans don't sound like patriotic Americans to me. Obviously you haven't studied the issues.
