(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Deputies in Washington County arrested a man for possession of child pornography and they say the arrest is connected to a computer camp in Salem. Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office says Aaron Leonard Munter, who worked as a camp counselor, was recently indicted after detectives reported finding child pornography in his house. "The suspect has been involved in teaching children at a computer camp in Salem. The Salem Police have also charged the suspect with crimes involving a child at the camp," Thompson said. Munter was booked into the Washington County Jail on one count of first-degree Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse. Thompson says the case began when a child told their mother that they had been shown child pornography by Mr. Munter while at a computer camp for children located in Salem. The mother reported the incident to Salem Police. Salem Police served a search warrant at Mr. Munter’s residence on August 22nd, 2008, on SW Pheasant Drive in Aloha. Officers seized property from Mr. Munter’s house that they say included child pornography. That evidence was turned over to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to investigate. Mr. Munter was indicted on the charge, and later turned himself in to deputies at the Washington County Jail. Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing to investigate the case. Several computers that were seized from Mr. Munter’s residence have been sent to the Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory in Portland. Detectives say that due to Mr. Munter’s position as a camp counselor, they are concerned that other victims may exist who have not come forward. If you have any knowledge, or suspect that your child or a child you know may have been a victim of Aaron Munter, please call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office or the Salem Police Department.
