The McCain Formula

All the world waits on the threshold of a sustainable peace if America will quit throwing its weight around at a time when we need friends, not enemies.

(PASO ROBLES, Calif.) - Fight, fight, fight! His entire campaign is devoted to fighting, as has been his life.

But why fight when there is no need?

Of course America needs a strong military, not to intimidate others, or to fulfill misguided ambitions, but to preserve the peace.

Wars diminish wealth, as if Americans need to be reminded, peace accumulates it. Yet, McCain’s over-riding theme is now and has forever been, to fight and win to prove superiority, even when it is unnecessary.

Peace is the result of Unity Through Diversity, not by requiring others to be as we want them to be. America is the melting pot of the world that embraces and welcomed diversity from the very beginning.

Why should McCain insist that nations conform to our values, or else? It doesn’t make sense, and such insistence is very expensive.

Martial rhetoric appeals to man’s basic emotions, peace among nations to his rationality. All the world waits on the threshold of a sustainable peace if America quits throwing its weight around. We need friends, not enemies.

P.A.: Political pander will bring on any kind of statement to conceal the facts. We've gone that route already with Supremes smearing their own credibilities, and high proof of stolen election right on the record. Never again, without revolt ! Re "inconsistencies", factual record indicates McC easy winner by far, on every issue and every real problem. Stating otherwise no longer works since this time public paying basic attention, about ready to purge perpetrators and purify system for clean, clear start-over. Enjoy Nov. 4 ! Some years later you may reach real understanding of realities existing today, but from comments seems doubtful.

I can say without hesitation that Obama has been the most inconsistent presidential candidate in Anerican history. Everyday there are new stories coming out that promulgate that inconsistency. Time is short before the final election day, but unless someone wins by more than 10 points the lawsuits will eventually wind up in the Supreme Court, and I like the odds there that a reasonable adjudication can be made. Time will tell.

P.A: Agree on great respect for any warrior putting life on line for country, whether volunteer or draftee, officer or boot. Problem here is presidential characteristics, not either loyalty or militaristic attitude demanded for that. You are entitled to "opinion", however so arrived; but in no way dare you question either loyalty or root patriotism of those seeking difference for the Presidency, since our root of democracy --world-shaping Constitution-- and its First Amendment, guarantees both. Yours carries that unstated smear-tactic, and I invite you to deny and clarify here for all of us. Skills, abilities, personal, professional, mental and religious characteristics all are different, for which we should be thankful. Can you deny those facts ?

We are really lucky Americans that we have people who dedicate such a considerable portion of their lives in service to our great nation (there are millions of them, millions!). God bless all our people in uniform and all our veterans regardless of their physical statures, locations in family birth charts, race, creed, temperment (unless no Honorable Discharge) or any other attributes nickel-store people assign them. I would add that Sen. McCain was a fighter pilot and jet fighter wing commander, not a position one achieves via nepotism, though maybe some would like to address another way people are promoted? I find that people who actually know combat and the death that comes with it will do everything to avoid it or at least minimize it. Too bad Wilson, FDR and LBJ did not have that insight. Let's hope the next President does.

Ken et al: Do believe major clues to the several personalities found in McCain is simple fact that he is 3rd-generation reluctant member of military family. Past history from Annapolis onwards shows typical behavior and action patterns, easily recognizable via cognitive science now highly accessable. He can no more change those basic attitudes built on life experience than he could his physical stature and temper, with the latter shaped by his place in family sequence. What makes him once-strong warrior impossibilizes a role as judicious, cautious, always reasonable/rational political leader. We remain highly fortunate in this nation to have some fine persons, of both sexes, with wide range of characteristics. But it's up to thoughtful citizens to make wise choice as President due to woeful consequences and massive death and destruction as price of continuing wrong choice.
