Suspect Sought in Robbery of South Salem Safeway

The suspect claimed to have a gun in his pocket but did not display a weapon police said.

(SALEM) - Salem police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who robbed a Safeway grocery store Friday night in South Salem.

According police, a Safeway employee said a man walked into the store at 3285 Commercial St. SE about 7:45 PM and demanded money.

The suspect is described as white and in his early 40s.

He was wearing a long-sleeved flannel checkered shirt, faded blue jeans and black shoes, a dark-colored baseball hat with a red bill and a logo on the front.

Anyone with information is asked to call Salem police at (503) 588-6123.
