(SALEM) - The Marion County Health Department and a variety of community partners will be offering a special flu clinic on Thursday, November 2nd, from 9:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem, Oregon. Please do not contact the church for information. No appointments are needed, however, to help speed up the process, attendees are being asked to obtain a form from the department’s Web site, health.co.marion.or.us/ph/immunizations/indexImm.htm, at the Salem Public Library, or at senior centers. To shorten waiting times, fill out the form in advance or in the parking lot and present the completed form when arriving for the clinic. Two types of vaccine will be available: injectible and nasal spray. Nasal spray, or FluMist, will be available to healthy individuals ages five to 49. A second form will be needed for people getting the nasal spray and those will be provided at the clinic. There may be a wait, but seating will be provided. Four easy steps: fill out the form, present the form, get vaccine, check out. The first 500 people who receive the flu vaccine will receive a small gift. Flu vaccine is recommended for: Children aged 6 to 59 months Pregnant women People 50 years of age and older People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions People who live in nursing homes and other long term care facilities Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu Household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than six months Healthcare workers Articles for October 27, 2006 | Articles for October 28, 2006 | Articles for October 29, 2006 | Quick Links
