(CAVE JUNCTION, Ore.) - Back by popular demand, Oregon Caves National Monument is once again offering Haunted Candlelight Tours. These spooky tours are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to those 12 years and older and will be offered once daily from Sunday, October 26th-Friday, October 31st at 4:00 pm. Space is limited - there is a maximum of 12 people allowed on each tour each day. Costumes are welcome, however, masks, glitter, capes or trailing materials will not be allowed inside the cave. The Haunted Candlelight Tour is approximately 1 hour in length and costs $8.50. Oregon Caves is located about 20 miles from Cave Junction. The last eight miles of the highway are steep and winding – a leisurely drive to the Monument from Cave Junction will take about 45 minutes. The temperature inside the cave is approximately 44°F (7°C) year round, so please dress accordingly. Warm clothing and good hiking shoes are always recommended. Candle lanterns will be provided to visitors during the tour, but flashlights, cameras, tripods or backpacks will not be permitted. The Monument is trying to protect its bat population and needs your help. If you have any items that have been worn or used in a cave or mine east of the Rocky Mountains in the US or Canada or a cave or mine in Europe, please leave those items at home to help prevent the spread of white-nose syndrome. For more information on cave tours call 541-592-2100 or visit www.nps.gov/orca. _________________________________________
