(KARACHI, Pakistan) - The one ingredient that many people believe could bring an end to growing violence in the Middle East is the Prime Minister, a woman named Benazir Bhutto. She has been living in exile for the last eight years as the country has operated under the military dictatorship of Pervez Musharraf.

Her triumphant return to Pakistan, and to power, was marred by a pair of bombs that blew up near her convoy in Karachi last night. The prime minister was not hurt.

Bhutto is defiant toward the Taliban and other terrorists who she has vowed to destroy. And the last thing Taliban and other anti-Coalition militias want to see is a woman in charge of a country with a high percentage of Muslims.

In the explosions that rocked the convoy, more than 130 innocent people were killed, and more than 300 injured.

Bhutto had been begged by government officials to not use the convoy, but to take a helicopter to ensure her safety. But she seems to believe that if she is going to assume power, she must be seen by the people of her country.

Approximately 20,000 police and security forces were deployed to protect Bhutto, but it wasn't enough to thwart the suicide bomber from gaining access to the historic event.

Karachi is where Ms Bhutto finds most of her political support. She was welcomed back by thousands, though Pakistan has plenty of people who do not wish to see her return to power.
