(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Police say that sometime during the weekend between Friday October 12th and Monday October 15th, multiple residential, commercial and public utility structures were targeted by acts of graffiti vandalism. Captain Jeff Kuhns with Keizer Police says the vandals struck six different streets in Keizer, "Most of the twelve reported graffiti incidents appear to be gang-related totaling an estimated $1,000 in damage clean-up costs." Kuhns says the Keizer Police Department is seeking information from the public that might lead to the identification of who is responsible for these crimes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Community Service Officer Lynn Halladey 503-390-3713 Ext. 3472. Under Keizer City Ordinance, Kuhns says, property owners have five days to remove graffiti. "The nuisance and expense of repeated graffiti vandalism can often be reduced by reporting the crime to police and removing the graffiti as soon as possible after the report is made," he said. He adds that quick removal of graffiti can limit the chances of attracting additional graffiti crimes, "by showing that neighbors care and are willing to fight back." To report existing graffiti in Keizer, you can call the police department's non-emergency number 503-390-2000. Citizen may also report the graffiti on the City of Keizer web site at keizer.org. Call 911 when any in-progress crime is observed. This specific series of incidents happened on Clearview Ave NE, Homestead Court NE, River Road N, Plymouth Drive NE, Appleblossom Avenue N and Krystie Ct NE.
