(ALBANY, Ore.) - Skeletal remains were discovered by a hunter in a remote area of Linn County Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Tim Mueller in Linn County says the human skeleton was found near McCully Mountain Road, south of Lyons. Mueller say deputies responded to the area and confirmed that it was in fact human. "Linn County Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Post conducted an evidence search on Sunday and recovered the remains, which were then sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Portland." Mueller says there are few details at this time, but it appears the person died as the result of homicidal violence. Specific information as the suspected cause of death is not being released at this time. Preliminary findings indicate the victim may be a Caucasian male who has been deceased from two to 12 months; however, conclusive results will be determined by the medical examiner. After forensic analysis is completed, detectives will search local and national missing person data bases in the attempt to identify the victim.
