Oregon Man Arrested for Abusing 7-Month Old Baby

Police say a medical exam revealed that the small boy had suffered a skull fracture.

(SHERWOOD, Ore) - Sherwood Police Officers a arrested 44-year old Hillsboro man today on charges of third-degree Assault and first-degree Criminal Mistreatment in connection with the physical abuse of a seven-month old boy.

Earl Pionell Knox was arrested without incident at approximately 3:30 PM today, in Washington County.

Police say the arrest stemmed from a September 15th incident during which the child's mother, a Sherwood resident, sought medical treatment for the child. The injury was reported to police by health care providers.

An examination reportedly revealed that the child had suffered a fractured skull under suspicious circumstances. The child was hospitalized and released into protective custody of the State of Oregon Department of Human Services.

Knox was lodged in Washington County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 bail.
