(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Gresham Police, along with Gresham Fire and Rescue were dispatched Friday morning to check the welfare of occupants at a home on NE 183rd, Portland, Oregon. Inside the residence emergency personnel discovered 73-year old Olga Plyushcheva, deceased, and her husband, 79-year old Stephan Plyushchev, semi-conscious and with visible injuries to the right side of his face and left shoulder. Mr. Plyushchev was transported to Emanuel Hospital by ambulance. The Multnomah County Major Crimes Team was called in to investigate. In the early stages of the investigation detectives were unable to determine what had occurred mainly due to Mr. Plyushchev's condition. On 10-10-2009 an autopsy was performed on Olga Plyushcheva by the Oregon Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death has been determined to be of natural causes. A search of the Plyushchev residence on the same day did not reveal evidence a crime had occurred, investigators said. Today, Detectives were able to speak with Mr. Plyushchev. From statements made by Mr. Plyushchev and evidence present at the residence, Detectives believe Mr. Plyushchev fell while attempting to help his wife sustaining injuries rendering him unable to call for assistance. The investigation continues, however detectives believe the death of Oleg Plyushcheva and injuries suffered by Stephan Plyushchev were not caused by a criminal act. Mr. Plyushchev remains in serious condition at the Emanuel Hospital. Articles for October 12, 2009 | Articles for October 13, 2009 | Articles for October 14, 2009 | ||
