(MT. HOOD, Ore.) - A report of a shooting in the Mount Hood National Forest was called into the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office Thursday night at 9:30 p.m.

The location of the shooting was a campsite off the East Salmon River Road off of Hwy 26 near Rhododendron, Oregon, according to Lieutenant Paul Steigleder II, Acting Public Information Officer with the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office.

"Deputies responded to Hwy 26 at its intersection with Salmon River Road and met the victim of the shooting. The victim drove himself to the location in his own vehicle."

Steigleder says an AMR ambulance transported the victim to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, in Portland, for treatment of a gun shot wound.

"The gunshot wound did not appear to be life threatening. Clackamas County Sheriffs deputies followed the victim to the hospital to continue the victim interview."

He says additional Clackamas County Sheriffs deputies went to the campsite to continue the investigation at the shooting scene.
