(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Local artist and grass-roots activist, Brian Steinberg, is on a one-man postcard-writing campaign. To achieve his goal of putting impeachment back “on the table” for President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, Steinberg created handmade postcards with a pro-impeachment message and sent them to every Democratic member of Congress.

“I was frustrated by what was happening in the government and I wanted my voice to be heard. The postcards were inspired by the posters I saw at protest rallies. I thought, wouldn’t it be great if I could send one to my congressperson. Then I thought, why stop there? So I decided to create and send a postcard to every Democrat in Congress, 231 in all.”

Steinberg has completed all of the postcards and has since mailed them. The finished work can be viewed on the website, PostcardPortest.com. He will also post any reply-letters he receives from Congress on the site.

Steinberg’s hope is that a congressperson will see and read his postcards and champion action towards impeachment. “At the very least, I think that it would be great if a staff- person sees my card and keeps a record of it on file. I have read that some congresspersons keep letters on file and refer to them before weighing in on an issue.”

Steinberg has also written an instructional booklet on how to create your own postcards for social and political campaigns. You can contact him via email for a free digital version.

National Review editor, Rich Lowry's 10/8 column "The Lonely War," could well have been titled, "Pres. Bush's Act of Treason." Consider these Lowry words: "THE U.S. GOVERNMENT HAS NEVER BROUGHT TO BEAR ITS RESOURCES IN A TRULY NATIONAL EFFORT TO WIN (THE IRAQ WAR)." In truth, that sentence should have read, "Pres. Bush, our Commander-in-Chief, after taking us to war in 2003, never fully utilized our resources in a truly national effort to win the Iraq War." Which can only be regarded as an act of treason, inasmuch as Mr. Bush for five years has been telling the American people how essential it is to our nation's security and survival to prevail in Iraq and how dire for the United States are the consequences of failure. Mr. Bush should answer for his failure to employ, in the words of Pete Hegseth, head of Veterans for Freedom, "the best and brightest minds" to help him wage this "extremely important war." The President should also explain why he chose to surround himself with loyal and grateful incompetents who have enabled Mr. Bush to engineer the debacle that is Iraq. Given Rich Lowry's words, if Pres. Bush's failure to fully utilize our nation's resources in a "a truly national effor to win (so important a conflict as the Iraq War)" doesn't compute to treason, what does? - DaveF
