(SALEM, Ore.) - The Salem Fire Department will hold an open house for the community in celebration of Fire Prevention Week. It happens at the Salem Airport Fire Station, 2740 25th Street SE in Salem on Monday, October 8th. Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says there will be many things for people of all ages to see and do. Some scheduled events are a Fire Apparatus Demo, Car Extrication, Bicycle Safety, a Live Fire Demo, and of course "Flash the Fearless Fire Dog," who local educators say is a great way to reach kids. That's not all Holmstrom says, a LifeFlight Helicopter Display will be on hand, and other important things like refreshments and free door prizes. The list is long and there are few events that go further in making fire safety education interesting and fun for kids. Holmstrom says it takes place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, and the entire community is invited.
