(SALEM) - On Oregon Highway 22, look for the North Santiam Highway Bridge Replacement Project on North Santiam Highway 22 between mileposts 60 and 76, About 10 miles east of Detroit. The contractor replaced the existing Whitewater Creek, Marion Creek, Pamelia Creek and North Santiam River bridges and established traffic on these new structures within a 17 mile stretch of Highway 22. Work on this project has been completed with the exception of necessary repair work. Work will require one-lane traffic, controlled by flaggers at these bridge sites through October 28th. Motorists should use caution when approaching these locations and expect intermittent temporary daytime delays from Monday through Friday. Work is dependent on weather. The Oregon Highway 22 at 99W and 223 Interchange in Rickreall is in sections, these are: Willamina – Salem milepost 15.03 to 16.62 The scope of work includes the construction of two bridges to eliminate the “at grade” crossings at the intersections of Oregon 22 with Oregon 99W and Oregon 223 to improve traffic flow and overall public safety. This interchange project is funded by the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA). The Contractor will be performing nighttime paving operations on Oregon 99W, Oregon 223, the Dallas-Rickreall Highway, and Oregon 22 during this time period. Motorists should use caution when approaching these locations and expect intermittent temporary daytime delays from Monday through Friday. Work is dependent on weather. The Salem – Dayton project on Highway 22 involves preservation paving that also includes improvements to mailbox turnouts, guardrail, and signing. In addition, the contractor will reconstruct the roadway surfacing on both ends of the Spring Creek Bridge and Palmer Creek Bridge. Work began in June and is scheduled to be completed by the end of October. Motorists should expect intermittent daytime and nighttime delays while the contractor is performing bridge approach reconstruction, mailbox turnout improvements, guardrail improvements and asphalt paving throughout the project. Improvements continue on US Highway 20 and Oregon 126 at the Santiam Junction and at the Lane County Line between milepost 71.5 and 74.5 and at Clear Lake on the Belknap Springs Highway between mileoposts 0 and 12.5. This project is a preservation paving project that includes improvements to the guardrail, signing and other safety improvements. In addition, the contractor is reinforcing the concrete deck and replacing the bridge railing of the McKenzie River Bridge, on the Oregon 126 highway at milepost 4.5, near Cold Water Cove Campground. The work is scheduled to continue through October 31st, 2006. Special permits are required for over-width vehicles. The McKenzie River Bridge is under one-way traffic with 24-hour flagging, every day. All annually permitted over-width loads are directed to use Highway 58. Motorists should use caution when approaching this location and should expect intermittent temporary daytime and nighttime delays. Work continues on Interstate-5 at the Wilsonville/Hayesville Interchange. On northbound and southbound I-5 south of the Charbonneau District, expect intermittent nighttime single-lane closures between 7:00 PM and 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Monday. Watch for intermittent shoulder closures and roadside construction crews. On Oregon 551 near the I-5 overpasses, watch for intermittent shoulder closures and roadside construction work Monday through Friday. On I-5 in Salem Highway 22 and Kuebler Boulevard, watch for roadside construction work around the clock with nighttime single-lane closures. Watch for closed lanes and detours for local streets and roads. The speed limit is 50 mph between I-5 mile posts 251 and 255. On northbound and southbound I-5 mile between mileposts 253 and 249, expect nighttime single-lane closures Monday, Oct. 9th, Tuesday, Oct. 10th and Thursday, Oct. 12th. Turner Road under I-5: Watch for occasional single-lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers; expect delays. I-5 Kuebler Boulevard at exit 252: Motorists should watch for electronic message boards, narrow lanes, and roadside equipment and workers. Watch for nighttime lane closures and detours. Allow extra time to travel through the work zone on northbound I-5 south of exit 252 to the N. Santiam Highway – Mission Street exit 253.
