(EUGENE) - The third annual Oregon Economic Forum will focus on the growing problem of health care costs and the burden being placed on the competitiveness of Oregon's private employers.

Keynote speaker and former Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber will describe a national model for health care reform. Kitzhaber founded the Archimedes Movement, which encourages engagement and effective action to improve the delivery of health care.

In addition, the forum will feature a panel of business and government leaders chaired by Jack Friedman, CEO of Providence Health Plans. The panel will react to Kitzhaber's remarks and then discuss various approaches to managing health care economics in Oregon and the nation. Tim Duy, the forum's director, author of the monthly University of Oregon Economic Index and an adjunct professor of economics, will provide an overview of last year's Oregon economic trends and a forecast for the coming year.

The mission of the Oregon Economic Forum is to bring university, business and government leaders together to discuss relevant economic issues in an unbiased format.

The forum, which is sponsored by the University of Oregon, will take place Oct. 11th in the Cascade Crest Banquet Center at the Oregon Zoo, 4001 S.W. Canyon Road, Portland.

Cost of the seminar is $50 per person or $375 for a table of eight.

The registration deadline is Tuesday.

To register call Tim Duy at duy@uoregon.edu or (541) 346-4660

Hello! Help solve the problem. Very often try to enter the forum, but says that the password is not correct. Regrettably use of remembering. Give like to be? Thank you!

This appears to be gibberish, but if you are trying to reach us, send us an email at Newsroom@Salem-News.com. There are many aspects to this site, but nothing that we refer to as a forum. The reason is that we have this comment section and it is well functioning.

I think people should support this site, where is all the advertising? Salem, Oregon looks like a lame dive with a shining news site, strange combination.

I was shopping and saw something on sale but didn't have the money to get it. And I knew it wouldn't be on sale later, but I didn't have the cash to get it. Since I wouldn't receive my salary for at least another week so I decided to get a cash advance loan to help me afford it. Glad I did too. I knew I could afford to repay the loan on payday so I went for it.

Not going to trash you Albert. Corruption is a major in problem in all industries and the groups you shine the light of truth on are not immune. If you had a this buck stops here idea that would be helpful. How do you propose to resolve the this problem. By the way, people should stop going to traditional medical doctors because they drug and cut people. More people die of doctor related problems than in any other way. Either through misdiagnosis, wrong drugs, or right drugs. Chiropractic and herbal remedies are the true answers. I speak from experience. Apart from isolated surgeries ie. organ transplants and broken bones, they should be avoided. Even cancer can be cured with Naturopathy so no need for traditional doctors there either. Again, I speak from experience. Al, you do realize that where ever there is a lot of money there is a lot of corruption don't you? Medical industry is no exception. Now let's look at chiropractors, no HMOs to support them (largely), insurance companies are loathe to cover treatments, money is tight because treatments work and patients don't need such long term care. No money trail to follow really. Except for the lazy ones, no real corruption exists either. Isn't it odd that it works that way. I'm being facetious of course, but you know what I mean.

If he does not discuss the Bilderberg, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, Club of Rome, British Roundtable, Committee of 300, etc. Don't bother to go. You should never discuss money without knowing about these groups first. Everything else is pulp. They rule the world economy along with the likes of the Federal Reserve which is not federal and there is no reserve. Every share outstanding is owned by private banking interests which eventually translates into very wealthy and powerful shareholders that run the country and a good deal of the world. The same is true for the Bank of Japan, The Bank of England. These are just euphemisms for privately owned money lending corporations. They are not an agency of any of the respective governments. Before you trash me, do some reading on the internet. You should thank me for bringing this to your attention. Very, very few people know about this corruption and ploy. The United States is inferior to the global bankers because the United States Government is the borrower.
