Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission adopted an Updated 2010 Oregon Wolf Conservation and Management Plan

(BEND, Ore.) - The update makes minor changes to the original Plan to make it more practical. Many of the changes are intended to improve the management of wolf-livestock conflicts and are based on five years of experience implementing the original Wolf Plan.

The changes to the plan were the result of extensive public outreach efforts by ODFW staff, including meetings with 14 stakeholder groups representing Tribes, conservation groups, livestock producers, landowners and state and federal agencies.

The Commission was also briefed on the Oregon Greater Sage-Grouse Conservation Assessment and Strategy planning efforts. They directed ODFW staff to continue to work with constituent groups to address their concerns about the plan. The Commission will consider approval of the plan at the Dec. 3 Commission meeting in Portland.

The Commission is the policy-making body for fish and wildlife issues in the state of Oregon. The seven-member panel meets nearly every month. Its next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 3 in Portland.
