(SALEM, Ore.) - Deputies in Salem had it easy today during one arrest. Two people operating a stolen Toyota pick-up apparently decided to use it to pick to visit a friend at the Marion County Jail. The visit ended up being longer than anticipated. Marion County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Kevin Rau says that just after 8:30 this morning, deputies received a report that a stolen truck that disappeared from the city of Salem over the weekend, had been spotted in northeast Salem. A person spotted it and called 911, but they lost sight of it on south Lancaster Drive. He says deputies were surprised to find the 1984 Toyota truck in the parking lot at the jail with two people in it. Rau says Deputy Dave Wagner, who had just finished booking someone at the Marion County Jail, heard the call and decided he would check the area for the stolen truck before returning to his district. "He detained the two and found that the passenger, 24-year old Chelsi Guinn of Salem, had an outstanding arrest warrant for a probation violation on a charge of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle." "The driver, 25 year old Kristie Jeffers of Salem, was also on probation. Rau says she has an extensive criminal history including drugs, theft and forgery, among others. Both were arrested and booked at the Marion County Jail." Deputies searched the stolen truck, Rau says, and found nearly 21 grams of methamphetamine, scales and packaging material. The women were at the Jail to visit Guinn's boyfriend who is currently lodged there. Both women were charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Deputies anticipate additional charges related to the methamphetamine but the investigation is continuing. This is right up there with the inmate that escaped from Mill Creek Correctional Inst. a few years ago and walked out in front of a police car on Aumsville Hwy.....Genius!!

These women are a great example of why a lot of people end up in jail...thinking they're somehow smarter than the cops. Not that intelligence is reining supreme here, obviously. Yep, the jail's full of people that just should have known better.

One is kinda cute... are you sure the pic on the right is not the boyfriend? It does not seem to be of a woman but maybe it is just me. I have to really wonder at the level of stupidity demonstrated by these two. I guess they are determined to (as the saying goes) 'spend their declining years in the pokey'. I am sure there are a lot of women in jail looking forward to Chelsi entering the population. Ah well...
