(SALEM) - Salem Police responded in force to Kettle Foods in Salem on a report of two men menacing a security guard with a gun and threatening his life. The 1:50 AM report and call for help from security guard Raymond Scott White, 22, brought response from 11 Salem units and two county sheriff deputies. Salem Police say a perimeter was immediately set up and K-9's were brought in to search for the two subjects with a gun that White had reported. But those alleged suspects never turned up and police say that after an extensive interview, White told them he had made the story up. He was arrested for Initiating a False Report and Reckless Endangering. White was an employee of Pro Star Security. Salem Police say it is unfortunate adn they do not know why the report was made up in the first place. Salem Police say the arrest is no reflection on Kettle Foods, and they say that the implementation of a security guard in the first place shows that the company is looking our for the welfare of it's empleyees. I am sure White was terminated, as well, I am sure that his certification was revolked and he is now barred from any type of postion of public trust.

i don't think we should be calling this guy a "low-life". We don't know what was going through his head when he made that call, or what his circumstances might be now that he probably lost his job.

Dam! I wish I would have said that first Steve. You're right that was easy. As far as the 21 year old. He should be made to feel embarassed and maybe fined. But not fired if he learns his lesson. If the cops who woke up to help him, missed a real crime, he should be given stiffer punishment. Don't be so rabid.

..."no shortage of cops to wake up....." And just how many agencies responded to help this scurity guard....although not a police officer, does work to help them? In this day and age, you never know what type of idiots you are going to confront. People doing criminal activity have no regard for human lives anymore. They would shoot you because you coughed. If a security guard has contact with "bad guys," these baddies have probably been elsewhere during the course of their low-life lives. So the police respond to help a fellow worker. Time taken away from the police who will now have to catch up on other ligitimate missed calls because of one "stupid idiot" who, for whatever reason, made a false report. How many crimes were committed because officers were involved in protecting this person and the business he is supposed to be protecting. Prostar security should fire this idiot immediately and he should be banned from any type of work involving the public, except doing permanent litter patrol between Bend and Nyssa. What a low-life!

Bored with the night shift. Try a little "cry wolf" to liven it up. I guess there's no shortage of cops to wake up. And dogs. What a night, one for the history books. Make a movie out of it. What REALLY happened to the two guns? Ya somewhere buried in the field is a million bucks and all the guard has to do is keep his mouth shut till he gets out and bingo he's in the chips.

Let the print people snooze. The problem is when they are awake all they do is cry about lost readership.

Is the local newspaper staff all on vacation? Sleeping at their desks? You guys rock their world with content, if only they would take the lead.
